safe program video shoot.

this morning was a very random day.

so a couple of members from the team had the script and storyboard all prepared for the video shoot, the children were picked up and taken to victoria park (the park where the filming was going to take place) but upon arrival, the team noticed that the playground had been removed.

two weeks prior to this morning, one of the team members had scouted out the park and taken pictures for the storyboard. both the script and storyboard were specifically created with this particular playground in mind for the location. needless to say, arriving at a park with with a car full of children with no more playground made for some on the spot decision making.

the team decided to try filming at woodbine park. they completed all of the shots that require children. below is a sample movie of some possible shots of children fading in.

s.a.f.e. kids club script

the team has completed the s.a.f.e. kids club script for the salvation army freedom ministries.

everything is almost ready to begin filming. we're hoping to begin shooting within the next few weeks before the park turns brown due to all of the leaves that have fallen. we will be working on the other scripts as well as rounding up children for the video shoot.

safe program concept

setting: park/playground
- symbolizes the community
- the salvation army is trying to get these children out into the community.

there are a couple of options that we have been considering.

first was to have an empty park with a voice-over saying statistics, and that the salvation army safe program is helping kids get out into the community.
- the empty park was to symbolize what some of the children's lives are like without their help. they tend to stay indoors more and stay to themselves.

a second idea is to have the empty park but then fade in children playing.
- when the voice-over says that the salvation army helps children get out into the community, then children playing would fade into the park
- this option leaves less to the imagination of the viewers.

this shot could prove to be quite difficult depending on how busy the park is. if the park is really busy then this could be to difficult to accomplish.

we are going to discuss and see which option we're going to go with.

as a sample, we shot a little piece of video. the first part shows how we would fade children into a shot, while the second one shows more of a "ghost" effect with the people being see through.

S.A.F.E. Project

although the blog hasn't been updated recently, the group has been brainstorming and working on the productions that will need to be produced. the deadlines are coming up so they have decided to start posting what they have got so far.

the first script and storyboard due is the one for salvation army's s.a.f.e. program. there were a few creative limitations that the ripe design team had to keep in mind in producing this video.
1) very limited budget
2) difficult to find children actors

mainly as a result of their lack of children actors, the team decided to go with an empty playground as the setting. the idea is to show various shots of the playground which should have children in it. there will be background music to draw out emotions, as well as playground ambient noises of children playing. the team is currently unsure if the use of colour or just black and white video will have the most impact.

the team is working on the script for the voice over, but below is a picture of a mock storyboard idea of what the shots will look like.

meeting and introductions

ripe design's task will be coming up with a script and storyboard for two different aspects/sections of the salvation army freedom ministries office. then with the script and storyboard, ripe design will then shoot and edit the videos that have been approved by the client.

on wednesday september 26, tammy and joshua went down to freedom ministries to meet with major barbara bain and major stan carr of the salvation army. this was the initial meeting to get an idea of which projects the ripe design team will be working on over the next few months.

we're pretty excited and are looking forward to the outcomes.
